What is group therapy:

There are several different types of group therapy, some you may be familiar with like AA meetings.

The Groups at Sun and Water Psychology are skill groups with an element of processing. What this means is that you don’t need to go into depth about your personal experience or story. We will ask you to share some things about your life and experience, but won't ask you to go into anything in detail or any trauma. We offer skills to help with mental wellness, see group information below to see what might be right for your needs.

Some benefits of Group Therapy:

  • It is a lower cost option and you get 10 mental health treatment plan (MHTP) group sessions every year in addition to 10 MHTP individual sessions.

  • Others having similar experiences to you can be a powerful way of validating your concerns and struggles

  • Multiple perspectives and understandings, not just the perspective of the therapist

  • Relationship and trust building with multiple people

  • Gaining insights through other peoples experiences

Parenting Risk Management

In this 2 hour workshop we will cover the following:

  • What is causes self-harm and suicide risk

  • Ways of recognising thst your child is at risk

  • Strategies to support your at risk child

  • Stretegies to help manage your response and stay calm

HSC Anxiety and Stress management group

In this 5 week program we will cover the following:
